Our Classes
AURA is AKA’s youth dance programme, combining exceptional training with exciting performance opportunities, workshops and experiences designed to help young dancers grow.

Led by leading choreographers and professionals who actively work within the dance and creative industries, AURA offers a contemporary approach to dance training. Through high-quality weekly classes and company training, dancers develop strong technique, creativity, confidence and individuality, while gaining an insight into the industry as it exists today.

Just as importantly, AURA is a place to build lasting friendships, feel supported and become part of a positive community. We believe dance should support the whole person, nurturing mental wellbeing, personal development and self-expression alongside artistic progress.

Every dancer is encouraged to explore their potential, discover their own identity and access opportunities that allow them to train, create and perform.

Jazz
Our Jazz classes combine strong technical training with dynamic, contemporary movement. Dancers develop strength, flexibility and precision while mastering leaps, turns, kicks and expressive choreography in an energetic and inspiring environment.

Rooted in classical technique and adapted for today's industry, jazz is one of the most versatile dance styles and is widely seen in musical theatre, commercial performance and the West End. Whether you're looking to refine your technique or perform with confidence, our Jazz classes provide the foundations to help you thrive.
Ballet
Classical training is the foundation of nearly all styles of dance. Our ballet classes follow the ISTD syllabus to ensure the children learn the proper technique needed to flourish as dancers. Learn vital lessons in elegance, discipline and poise. Miss Georgie, who currently teaches our ballet classes, trained in London with none other than Christine Beckley...Darcey Bussell's ballet teacher!

Commercial
As one of Sussex’s leading studios for Commercial Dance, we are incredibly proud of what we have created for young dancers.

Our classes are designed to empower young people, encouraging body confidence, self-expression and a positive relationship with movement. Alongside high-quality dance training, dancers become part of a supportive community where they can build friendships, develop resilience and gain invaluable life skills.

Commercial Dance has become an increasingly important part of training within top dance institutions and the wider professional industry. Drawing from styles such as Hip-Hop, Jazz, Contemporary and Street Dance, Commercial routines are high-energy, powerful and expressive. It is also a style that young people naturally connect with, as it is so present in everyday culture- from music videos and live performances to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and cheerleading.

We also have various AURA Commercial Dance Companies which dancers can audition to join each year. Read more about our dance companies here:

At AURA, we are committed to keeping all choreography, music and styling age-appropriate, while still giving our dancers exciting, current and high-impact training.
Contemporary
Our Contemporary and Lyrical classes give dancers the space to develop technique, musicality, creativity and confidence in movement.

Open to dancers who want to explore a more expressive and individual approach to dance, these classes combine technical training with choreography, improvisation and performance. Dancers are encouraged to move with intention, develop their own artistic voice and build the strength, control and versatility needed for contemporary dance.

Alongside our open classes, AURA also offers two audition-only Contemporary Companies for dancers who are ready to take their training further. Company members work at a higher level, with a greater focus on performance, creative development, teamwork and professional-style training.

Through company rehearsals, specialist workshops and performance opportunities, dancers are challenged to grow both technically and artistically while becoming part of a committed and supportive company.
